After the collision, two buses caught fire and at least 13 buses derailed. The accident injured 19 passengers. The injured have been sent to a nearby hospital. Preliminary reports indicate that train crews experienced strong shaking on the track, causing the express train to veer onto the Circle Line and collide with a parked freight train. According to sources, the train was running at a speed of 109 kilometers per hour, and the crew on the train suddenly felt a strong jolt. The passenger train entered the loop and collided with a stationary freight train on the same track. The Southern Railway’s Chennai division has dialed the emergency helpline 044-25354151 and 044-24354995. Meanwhile, the railways in neighboring Andhra Pradesh also released an emergency helpline number. These include Gudur: 08624 250795, Ongole: 08592 280306, Vijayawada: 0866 2571244 and Nellore: 0861 2345863. Apart from this, helpline numbers for Samastipur (8102918840), Darbhanga (8210335395), Danapur (9031069105) and DDU Junction (7525039558) have also been released. Doctors, ambulances, medical rescue teams and senior officials have been dispatched to the scene. All passengers have been rescued. Southern Railway said in a statement that all passengers will be taken to central Chennai on EMUs and a new train is ready in Chennai to take them to Darbhanga or other destinations. We also offer free food, water and snacks to our passengers. Train traffic on the route was disrupted due to the train accident. Due to the accident of train No. 12578 Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express at Kavaraipettai, train No. 12077 Dr. MGR Chennai Central-Vijayawada Jan Shatabdi Express and train No. 12078 Vijayawada-Dr. MGR Chennai Central Jan Shatabdi Express have been cancelled.
