A suspect has appeared in court charged with murder following the death of a Dundee man.

Emergency crews were called to reports that a 43-year-old man had been found seriously injured at a property in the city’s Charleston Road at around 11.05pm on Saturday.

The man was taken to Ninewells Hospital where he died on Sunday.

Suspect Barry Murray appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court later in the day facing a murder charge.

Murray, from Dundee, did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody. He will be back in the dock within the next eight days.

Detective Inspector Richard Baird said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“An extensive investigation into this incident is ongoing and we continue to appeal to the public to contact us with any information they have.”

Officers will remain in the area as inquiries continue and anyone with concerns is urged to speak to police.

Baird added: “I urge anyone who sees or hears anything suspicious, no matter how trivial it may seem, to contact us.
