In Rajasthan, ‘Surya Saptami’ will be celebrated on February 15 with a mass ‘Surya Namaskar’ program in all government schools across the state.

Following the order of School Education Minister Madan Dilawar, Secondary Education Department Director Ashish Modi has issued an order directing all the Chief District Education Officers to perform ‘Surya Namaskar’ in the morning prayers.

He said the department aims to create a world record by organizing mass ‘Surya Namaskar’ by students, parents and teachers in all schools on February 15.

“The practice of ‘Surya Namaskar’ has already started in schools. All students are expected to perform ‘Surya Namaskar’ along with their parents and teachers. People with medical conditions will not participate,” Modi told PTI.

He said that initially this event is for one day on ‘Surya Saptami’ and if the government directs, further orders will be issued to make it a regular campaign in view of the health benefits of ‘Surya Namaskar’.

Modi said that in the order issued on January 23, Chief District Education Officers have been instructed to give training in ‘Surya Namaskar’ to teachers and students by qualified trainers.

The director said that on February 15, ‘Surya Namaskar’ will be performed simultaneously by students, parents, teachers, villagers in all schools and it will become a “world record”.

He said that education officials have also been asked to update about the number of participants by 2 pm on February 15.
