People gather in the streets of cities across Ireland and the UK to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
In Dublin, tens of thousands of people lined the streets of the capital for the parade, many wearing shamrock glasses, Irish flags and leprechaun hats.
More than 4,200 people took part in the parade, which featured 18 performances and pageants, including traditional dancers from Bolivia, Ukraine, Georgia and Brazil.
In Belfast, thousands of people gathered to watch a colorful and noisy parade through the city center.
Dancers, drummers, giant figures in costumes and brightly colored props delighted crowds along the route.
The Irish Guards gave three cheers to the absent Colonel, Princess of Wales, during the St. Patrick’s Day parade at Mons Barracks, Hampshire.
Kate, who officially succeeded her husband as colonel of the regiment for a year, has not yet returned to official duties as she recovers from abdominal surgery, but the couple have attended several parades together in the past.
The 250 Irish Guardsmen removed their bearskin headdresses and gave three cheers of “Long Live Hooray!”
Their mascot is a three-year-old Irish wolfhound named Turlough Mor, also known as Seamus.
In Birmingham, huge crowds gathered for the first St. Patrick’s Day parade in five years – the 50th time the city has hosted the celebrations.
In London, more than 50,000 people are expected to take part in the annual Irish military band, dance group parade and pageant through the capital, culminating in a live performance in Trafalgar Square.
