Senior Congress leader Randeep Surjewala has received a show-cause notice from the Election Commission for his comments on BJP’s Mathura MP Hema Malini, The pollster called the comments “undignified, vulgar and uncivilized”. The party was asked to set out the steps it had taken to ensure the committee’s recommendations on the honor and dignity of women in public discourse were adhered to.

Citing its scathing criticism of the Supriya Shrine, the committee said in its note: “Unfortunately, the activities of the Indian National Congress, despite bringing the matter to the attention of peer parties, have People are still indulging in it.” The remarks are detrimental to the honor and dignity of women. “

It added: “The committee wishes to reiterate that you will also agree that the election campaign must not be allowed to become a platform for any form of humiliation of women.”

The BJP accused Surjewala of making “vile, sexist” remarks about Hema Malini and labeled the Congress party “misogynistic”.

Last week, the party’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya shared an undated video on An actor-politician made objectionable remarks while attacking the BJP.

Surjewala accused the BJP’s IT wing of “distorting facts and spreading lies”. He shared a video clip from the same event, in which he can be heard saying, “We respect Hema Malini ji because she is married to Dharmendra ji and she is our bahu.”

“BJP is anti-women, so it views everything from a misogynist perspective and spreads lies easily,” he said in the post.

Recently, Congress’s Supriya Shrinate was accused of posting offensive content about actor and BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut. Ms Shrinate said the posts were made without her knowledge.
