Sitharaman: Strive to make India a developed country by 2047

The Indian government is working towards making India a developed country by 2047, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Thursday. While presenting the interim budget 2024-25, Sitharaman also said that the minimum support price for ‘Annadata’ (farmers) has been increased appropriately on a regular basis.

She asserts that social justice is an effective and necessary model for government. The government is focusing on addressing systemic inequalities, she said, adding that the focus is on outcomes to achieve socio-economic transformation.

“We focus on results rather than expenditure,” Sitharaman said. The poor, women, youth and farmers are the four castes of the government, she added.
