'Shocking, horrific': Satya Nadella on Taylor Swift's deepfake image

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella expressed concern on Monday about the recent rise in pornographic deepfake videos and images of celebrities generated by artificial intelligence, calling the trend “shocking and terrifying.”

In an interview with NBC News, the CEO was asked about fake pornographic images of American pop star Taylor Swift that went viral on social media.

Nadella stressed the need for a quick response to such incidents. “I think we should move quickly on this,” he said, adding that “guardrails” were needed to ensure only safe content was produced online.

“I want to say two things: One, again, I go back to what I think is our responsibility, which is that we need to put all the guardrails around technology to make safer content. There’s still a lot to do, a lot to do is being done. But it’s about global, social – you know, I would say, convergence of certain norms. We can do it – especially when you have legal, law enforcement and technology platforms that can come together — I think there’s a lot more we can govern than we think — and we give ourselves credit for that.” edge To quote him.

The report also claims that the images may have been generated using the Microsoft Designer image generator.

Social media was flooded Thursday with deepfake images of the 34-year-old singer-songwriter depicting her in sexually suggestive poses and outfits, sparking widespread outrage.

Ms Swift is reportedly “outraged” after the fake nude photos were circulated and may consider taking legal action against the website responsible for producing them.

The photos were also shared on X (formerly Twitter), prompting the company to remove the content from its platform. Later, a search for the singer’s name on X generated an error message.

“Our teams are actively removing all identified images and taking appropriate action against the accounts responsible for posting them. We are closely monitoring the situation to ensure any further violations are addressed immediately and the content in question is removed.” The the company said in a post.
