A selfie spot near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir has become a major attraction for tourists as it allows them to capture the mesmerizing beauty of the remote border area of Uri and enjoy panoramic views of the Jhelum river, officials said here.

They say India’s selfie spots provide visitors with an engaging environment that symbolizes the region’s sense of nationalism.

Last year, the army opened zero point ‘Kaman Setu’ within the Line of Control for tourists. The selfie spot was opened to the public around Republic Day this year. This selfie spot is the brainchild of artist and RNAF founder Ruble Nagi.

Officials said the building is strategically located along National Highway 44 and offers panoramic views of the picturesque Jhelum River, enhancing the pride of locals and tourists alike.

The army thanked Najib’s foundation, which is known for its women’s empowerment programs. “Her move to gift this building is testament to the rising nationalism in the valley.

The selfie spots are conceptualized to provide a unique environment for participation by individuals and groups,” the military said. Najib said shaping the country’s name through her art installation was a tribute to the sacrifices made by all sections of society for the country’s freedom.

“There is no better feeling than shaping the name of my country through my art. Proud to install my sculpture #INDIA in the remote border region of Uri,” said Nagi, the daughter of a retired military officer.

“How blessed we are to be free. Our children need to know the sacrifices that so many people have made to protect the freedoms we enjoy today,” she said, urging people to make Uri their travel destination.

Najib played a major role in creating selfie spots in Kashmir, including those at the revamped Polo View Market, Rajbagh and Dal Lake.
