Sony has announced a limited-time promotional offer on some older PlayStation 5 models in India. The ‘Summer Sale’ offer will be available on the standard PS5, bringing discounts of up to Rs. There are 13,000 on the console. The discount was announced after the launch of the thin and light version of PS5 in India and will start on April 10. The disc version of the standard PS5 was launched in India in February 2021 and is currently priced at Rs. 54,990.

The “Summer Sale” offer only covers the standard PS5 disc version with model number CFI-1208A01R. The offer starts on April 10th and is valid until April 30th, or while supplies last on console models. The standard PS5 will get a discount of up to Rs. 13,000. Sony India confirmed to Gadgets 360 that the discounts will be applicable on a product-by-product basis and the offer will also be applicable to the disc-based PS5 bundles.

Sony said these discounts will be available at Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance, Sony Centre, Vijay Sales and other participating retail stores. It is also worth noting that the promotional offer does not include digital versions of older consoles and the newly launched PS5 slim.

The thin PS5 was first announced in October last year and went on sale in India last week. The latest discounts may be aimed at clearing out inventory of older model consoles.

The PS5 slim is thinner and lighter than the standard PS5 and costs the same Rs. The disc version is priced at Rs 54,990 and the CD version is priced at Rs 54,990. The digital version is priced at 44,990. The new slim version of the console also offers 10-minute delivery in select cities in India via Blinkit.

Sony confirmed during its quarterly earnings call earlier this year that it had sold more than 50 million PS5 units since its launch in November 2020, but sales of the console have been slowing. The company has said it will not meet its PS5 sales target for fiscal 2023, with sales expected to fall 4 million units short of the 25 million unit target.
