Mumbai batsman Musheer Khan was recently part of the Indian team in the ICC U19 World Cup, where they finished runners-up against Australia this year, and his performance in the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament has been a highlight . In the ongoing final against Vidarbha, Mushel has given signs that he could be the star of the future. He scored 136 runs off 326 deliveries, including 10 boundaries, to help Mumbai take a huge lead of over 500 runs.

Mushir Khan thus became the youngest batsman for Mumbai to hit a hundred in a Ranji Trophy final. The previous record holder Sachin Tendulkar was also in the stands as 19-year-old Musheer displayed superb carving skills with 255 balls to his name.

Mushel, the younger brother of India batsman Sarfaraz Khan, is 19 years and 14 days old, while Tendulkar was not yet 22 when he scored a double century in the 1994-95 final against Punjab.

Mushel’s bat played an important role in the semi-final against Tamil Nadu as he smashed a valuable 55 off 131 balls with six fours, followed by all-rounder Sha Shardul Thakur hit a brilliant counter-attack century to give Mumbai a 232-run lead. Mumbai won the match by an innings and 70 runs.

In the quarter-final against Baroda, Mushel converted his maiden first-class hundred into a double ton, knocking 18 of 203 off 357 balls in the first innings. A four-pointer. He hit 33 quick fours off 25 balls in the second innings. After the match ended in a draw, Mumbai built on their first-innings lead to win.

Mushel has scored 433 runs in three games so far at an average of 108.25 and has two half-centuries. His best score is 203*.

In the U19 WC tournament, Mushel played 7 games and scored 360 points, averaging 60 points and shooting over 98 points. He scored two centuries and 50 runs in the match and ended up becoming the second highest run-scorer. His best score is 131 points.

Additionally, he has played 14 youth ODIs and scored 554 runs at an average of 61.55, including two centuries and two fifties. Musheer has 13 wickets to his name and is also a useful all-rounder in spin bowling.

His elder brother Sarfaraz Khan also made his much-anticipated international debut against India in the third Test against England in Rajkot recently. He scored two half-centuries in his first game. He ended the series with 200 runs in 5 innings at an average of 50.00 with three half-centuries.

Will Musheer and Sarfaraz become Team India’s next star brother-sister duo in the future? Let’s just wait now.
