Samsung launched a new range of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered home appliances at its “Welcome to Bespoke AI” event on Wednesday. The event was held in three locations, Seoul, Paris and New York, showcasing products that will be launched in their respective markets. This year, the South Korean tech giant is integrating artificial intelligence into its products, bringing new features and functionality to users. Samsung has also integrated its Knox security platform to protect user data on connected devices.

The announcement was made through postal in the company’s newsroom. “Since the first launch of BESPOKE in 2019, Samsung Electronics has shown the market how to customize home appliances to best suit each user,” said Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO and Head of Device Experience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics homes and lifestyles. Five years later, we now share our vision for AI in home appliances, taking the consumer experience to the next level by extending customization with enhanced connectivity and AI capabilities.”

Along with the product launch, Samsung also introduced new features. Dubbed “AI Home,” the 7-inch LCD panel has been added to a variety of products for easy access and control of the entire connected ecosystem. AI Home allows users of one device to control another. It can also play music and media and display recipes to refer to while cooking.

Another new feature is Mobile Smart Connect, which sends alerts to your phone when it comes near a registered device. The notification includes a quick control menu to perform key functions of the device directly from the phone. The onboarding process has also been improved with easy registration on Samsung’s SmartThings app.

Product-specific innovations were also presented at the event. It is particularly worth mentioning that this refrigerator is also equipped with AI vision, which uses a built-in camera to identify 33 types of fresh food. Then, through AI Home, it can recommend recipes that can be made using items in the refrigerator. The Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI is a robot vacuum that can recognize a variety of objects, including humans and pets, as well as thin phone cords and carpets or rugs. It can also sense the types of surfaces to be cleaned and how to clean them.

Finally, Samsung has also added generative AI capabilities to Bixby, its native voice assistant for smart devices. With AI integration, Bixby can now understand complex sentences, contextual requests and multi-layered tasks, the company said. For example, a user can say “the living room feels damp” and the assistant will be able to understand the context and suggest a solution.
