The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 has been subject to a series of rumors and leaks recently. Some of them are contradictory, while others seem more believable, as the brand has a rather relaxed stance on foldable devices despite a lot of new competition in the same space. The Korean brand’s Galaxy S range has seen a definite shift this year, away from spec hype and towards a greater focus on generative AI features, and we expect the same to happen with this year’s foldable range. However, unlike regular tablet-style smartphones, the focus of foldable phones is on design. The latest rumors are trying to pinpoint what exactly has changed between the Z Fold 5 and the yet-to-be-released Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The latest rumors come from two sources, but both seem to point to the same changes. The first set of newly leaked information comes from Chun Bhai (@chunvn8888) of X (formerly Twitter), who point out Galaxy Z Fold 6, just like Galaxy Z Fold 5, will not have an S-Pen pen compartment. Just like the Galaxy Z Fold 5, one can expect the new S-Pen to be sold with an optional protective case. There have been several reports that Samsung is trying to create a thinner S-Pen that can fit into the Galaxy Z Fold’s fairly slim frame (when unfolded), but it doesn’t seem like that will happen in 2024. However, a recent Samsung patent also revealed other ideas, such as snapping the S-Pen to the side (or back) of a foldable device, or even making it a removable part of the foldable device’s frame. Therefore, it’s hard to deny that the S-Pen may not end up attached to the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s frame in some way.

Chun Bhai also said that the overall size of the phone may be the same as before, but it will be wider and have the sharper shape of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the use of titanium, which can make it lighter. In terms of core hardware, sources say the Galaxy Fold 6 will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 4,600mAh battery, and a triple rear camera setup.

The second part comes from Naver, provided by a poster named yeux1122, whose findings are basically similar to the ones above, but with more details.inside postalSources explain that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will offer an improved UTG main display, a stronger and thinner hinge, and an improved under-display camera. The post also states that the design of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be similar to the newer Galaxy S24 series.

The source further adds that the display ratio is expected to change and could be broadly similar to what Chinese rivals (OnePlus Open, Vivo X Fold 2, etc.) are currently offering. These changes are quite different from the more drastic design changes mentioned in previous reports, which almost looked like a redesign with a wider pixel fold look.

The source also mentioned that the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s camera will remain similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 5, with improvements mainly coming from the new ISP. This is again very different from recent rumors that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may have the same camera setup as its flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra.
