'Trinamool does not qualify as an Indian bloc': Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav

“The Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh is very strong,” said Mainpuri MP.

Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh):

Fissures within the Indian bloc became more apparent after the Trinamool Congress party announced its candidates for all 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, with Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav pointing out that Mamata Banerjee’s party had not adhered to conditions set by the opposition alliance.

“In West Bengal, the TMC’s conditions for contesting elections are not in line with the conditions of the (Indian) alliance…” Dimple told ANI in an interview on Monday.

However, she stressed that the alliance between the Congress and her party remained “very strong” in Uttar Pradesh.

“The Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh is very strong,” said Mainpuri MP.

Mamata Banerjee on Sunday assured a huge challenge to the Congress and CPI(M) as she announced candidates for all 42 seats. She also announced TMC’s intention to field a candidate in Meghalaya.

Mamata also criticized the Congress party and the CPI(M) for not softening their stance against an alliance with the TMC. “In Bengal, we will fight alone. The reason is that we support an alliance but the Congress does not. The alliance between the CPI(M) and the Congress is to facilitate the BJP. I do not support the CPIM or the BJP,” Ma Marta said.

In Uttar Pradesh, the Congress will contest 17 Lok Sabha seats and the remaining 63 seats will be contested by Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) and other alliance partners of the India Bloc.

Under the deal, Congress will elect candidates in its strongholds of Rabarelli and Amici.

Besides, the party will also contest from Kanpur Nagar, Fatehpur Sikri, Pasgaon, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Maharajganj, Amroha, Jhansi, Lok Sabha seats in Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Sitapur, Barabanki and Deoria.

Notably, the Congress party will also field its candidate in Varanasi seat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency.
