However, the 36-year-old Rohit has also seen discussions about his possible retirement. However, as far as the hitman is concerned, he is not thinking of retirement at the moment as he still aspires to win major events for India. (IPL 2024 Points Table)

Speaking on the ‘Champions Breakfast’ show, Rohit spoke about retirement and said he is still motivated to win the World Cup for India and possibly the ICC World Test Championship final.

“I haven’t really thought about retiring. But, I don’t know where life takes you. I’m still playing pretty well right now – so I think I’ll keep going for a few more years and then, I don’t know. I’m really I want to win the World Cup and there will be a WTC final in 2025 and I hope India can win it,” Rohit said on the show.

Rohit also spoke about India’s heartbreak at the 2023 ODI World Cup, where they were defeated by Australia in the final. Rohit-led India remained unbeaten throughout the match but unexpectedly lost to Pat Cummins’ side and came away empty-handed once again.

“For me, the 50-over World Cup is the real World Cup. We grew up watching that World Cup. What’s more, it happened in front of a home crowd in India. We all played before the final It was good. When we, I think, won the semifinals, now we’re one step away. We did everything right.”

“Is there anything that could cost us the World Cup? I didn’t expect anything. Because I think we met all the conditions, we played well. The confidence is there.”

“We all deserved a bad day and I think that was our bad day. Don’t think we played bad cricket in that final, certain things didn’t go our way. But Australia were slightly better than us. Some,” Rohit said.
