The race for the IPL 2024 playoffs has intensified with Rajasthan Royals in the pole position and not a single team has been eliminated from the competition yet. While RR have dominated the competition so far with 14 points, the trio of Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad are on 10 points each. Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans are also in the race with 8 points each. Former Indian cricket team captain Navjot Singh Sidhu picked RR, KKR and CSK as his picks to reach the IPL 2024 playoffs, with the fourth spot being a toss up between SRH and Mumbai Indians.
“He is selecting his own teen teams. Chennai Super Kings became, KKR became, and Rajasthan Royals became. There are 2 teams as per my opinion… One is Sunrisers Hyderabad, and one is not sure why, one feels like playing such a game no matter how much, Mumbai (Indians). I always feel Mumbai Indians have the tenacity to cloud over difficult situations. That is the chatter of a bitch, the more you slap, the stronger it will become. If they can sort out their bowling and Hardik comes back into his own, Mumbai is a lethal side boss. Superb team,” Sidhu said on a video posted by Star Sports.
Mumbai Indians have struggled to gain momentum in the IPL 2024 campaign as they sit eighth on the points table with three wins. The Hardik Pandya-led side has been at the center of controversies and things haven’t gotten any better as they suffered three consecutive defeats at the start of the competition.
Earlier, Sidhu had also expressed his views on the discussion of making Rohit Sharma the MI captain in place of Hardik.
“Nobody can digest the fact that the hero of India, the captain of India, is not the captain of our franchise. ‘What has he done wrong?’ That’s what fans of the franchise must be thinking,” Sidhu said on Star Sports.
He said, “But what does he have to do? There is no such thing as success. If he had won these two matches, there would have been no noise.”
