Extensive security arrangements have been made across the country for the Republic Day celebrations in the national capital on Friday. To maintain law and order situation in Delhi, the borders will be sealed on the night of 25 January.
Special CP HGS Dhaliwal said, ahead of the 75th Republic Day celebrations, all heavy transport and light goods vehicles will be stopped from entering the capital, and detailed security checks will also be conducted due to the sensitivity of the occasion.

Delhi Police will deploy around 14,000 security personnel in and around the duty path, where the Republic Day parade will take place. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of 77,000 invitees who will be on duty on Friday. French President Emmanuel Macron will attend the Republic Day parade in New Delhi as the chief guest.
Haryana on high alert
Haryana Police has strengthened security measures across the state ahead of Republic Day. Apart from patrolling at important points, special checking operation of trains and public transport is also being conducted. Haryana Director General of Police Shatrujit Kapoor reviewed the law and order situation on Republic Day.
Strict surveillance is being maintained at busy markets, bus stands and railway stations. Officials said hotels, guesthouses, parking lots and restaurants are also being checked.
Gurugram
The traffic police in Gurugram has issued an advisory for heavy and medium vehicles in the city along with no entry of heavy vehicles in Delhi on Republic Day.
As per the traffic advisory, all goods vehicle transporters have been informed that medium and heavy goods vehicles will not enter Gurugram and Delhi from 5 pm on January 25 to 1:30 pm on January 26.
Gurugram Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said that Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed in the city. He said that during this period, there will be a complete ban on the use of drones, aircraft, gliders, air balloons, kites and microlights in Gurugram till January 26.
Noida on alert
The Gautam Buddh Nagar police issued a traffic advisory, cautioning commuters about possible diversions on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway on January 25. However, emergency vehicles will be exempted from any changes, police said.
The traffic police have suggested alternative routes for commuters, including those going to Delhi, with diversions planned in view of an incident in nearby Bulandshahr district.
Security increased in Jammu and Kashmir
Security has been tightened in Kashmir ahead of Republic Day, with police and other security personnel conducting sanitization and area dominance exercises to ensure smooth and peaceful celebrations in the Valley.
He said that police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in the city and other district headquarters.
He said check posts have been set up at various places in Srinagar, especially at the entry points into the city and other districts.
While the main Republic Day celebrations will be held in Jammu which will be presided over by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the biggest celebration in the Valley will be held at Bakshi Stadium. Similar functions will also be organized at district headquarters.
Officials said security has been beefed up around Republic Day function venues in the Valley, including stadiums, and a multi-layered security mechanism has been put in place around the venues.
Mumbai Police bans flying activities around Shivaji Park
Police on January 26 issued an order to ban flying activities in the area around Shivaji Park in central Mumbai, which will be the venue of the ceremonial parade on Republic Day.
The order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) aims to thwart any threat by terrorists or anti-social elements to use the airspace for breach of peace and tranquility, public order and to create threat to human life and cause harm to the government . Property on Republic Day.
According to the order, a large number of people are expected to gather for the Republic Day celebrations and adequate security checks should be put in place to prevent unwanted activities around Shivaji Park.
Security has been tightened on the India-Nepal border
Security agencies have been put on high alert on the India-Nepal border. Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Gorakhpur Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Akhileshwar Singh said the identity of people is being checked before allowing them to cross the border to prevent the movement of anti-social elements in the area.
The official said that to strengthen the security arrangements on the India-Nepal border and to prevent infiltration of anti-national elements, SSB has installed closed circuit and drone cameras on every route leading to Nepal.
Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh shares an 84 km long open border with Nepal. Singh said that apart from the main roads, these cameras have also been installed at SSB posts. He informed that metal detectors have been installed at Sonauli and Tutibari posts on the India-Nepal border.
The official said dog squads trained in detecting narcotics and weapons have been deployed to check cross-border smuggling. Singh said that the help of Nepali security agencies is also being taken so that no anti-national element can infiltrate into the Indian border.
