Rahul Gandhi launches second phase of election campaign in Wayanad

Wayanad (Kerala):

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said Wayanad is the most beautiful place on earth and expressed his intention to invite his mother, senior party leader Sonia Gandhi, to visit and stay there for a few days.

Earlier in the day, the Wayanad MP while addressing party workers at a roadshow in Sultan Batli, a hill district, said he felt like home whenever he visited the district.

Mr Gandhi said he would urge his mother to visit Wayanad.

“I told (KC) Venugopal today that whenever I come here, I want to go home. Now I am going to put pressure on my mother to stay with you for a week or 10 days. I will tell her to come for a month, But she had a little humidity problem but I told her you are missing out on the most beautiful place on earth,” Mr Gandhi said.

The Congress leader is here today to launch the second phase of his election campaign.

He kicked off the Wayanad poll campaign earlier this month by filing his nomination papers and holding a massive roadshow.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Mr Gandhi defeated Wayanad by a record margin of 4,31,770 votes.

Polling for 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala will be held on April 26.
