Royal Challengers Bangalore returned to winning ways with an impressive 35-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday. While Rajat Patidar received the Player of the Match award, Cameron Green also shone as an all-rounder. The Australian scored unbeaten 37 runs in 20 balls while also taking 2 wickets for 12 runs in 2 overs. Celebrating his team’s second win of the campaign, Green shared a post on social media after the win, inviting a humorous comment from teammate Will Jacques.

“It’s great to be back on the winners list,” Green posted on Instagram. In response, Jack wrote, ‘Yes Green Bhai.’

In the first innings of the match, Green played an unbeaten inning of 37 runs in 20 balls at a strike rate of 185. Although he did not hit any six, but hit 5 fours and the 24-year-old all-rounder also hit two fours. Later took wickets in his two over spell.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Green praised RCB captain Faf du Plessis and head coach for the team’s success. He also praised the opponents and said that they batted well while chasing the target.

“We always have to celebrate small wins and now we are feeling quite good. Credit goes to the captain and the coach, SRH are batting well – that was the main reason. I am still in the early stages of my career. “Yeah, I’m still working on it.” “I like batting higher up the order and I’ve been working on that. It’s always nice to win and it’s something to enjoy,” Green said.

Recap of the match, RCB won the toss and decided to bat first. Captain Faf du Plessis (25) and Virat Kohli gave a blazing start to the team in the powerplay. Rajat Patidar (50) revived RCB’s innings after a slow pace after the powerplay. Virat was out after scoring 51 runs in 43 balls with the help of four fours and a six and failed to take advantage of his good start during the powerplay. Despite some quick wickets, Cameron Green (37*) and Swapnil Singh (12*) took RCB to 206/7 in 20 overs.

Jaydev Unadkat (3/30) and T Natarajan (2/39) were the top bowlers for SRH. Pat Cummins and Mayank Markandey took one wicket each.

In the run-chase, SRH kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Barring Abhishek Sharma (31), none of the previous heroes for SRH, be it Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen or Nitish Reddy, made an impact. Skipper Cummins (31) and Shahbaz Ahmed (40) fought back, but SRH were all out for 171 in their 20 overs.

Green (2/12) and Karn Sharma (2/29) were the top bowlers for RCB. Swapnil Singh also took two wickets for 40 runs. Will Jacques and Yash Dayal also got one wicket each.

RCB are at the bottom of the points table with two wins, seven losses and four points. SRH are at third place with five wins, three losses and 10 points.
