Queen Mary expressed her love for her husband King Frederick, moving him to tears with her heartfelt speech.

The new King and Queen of Denmark are about to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary and have stood the test of time after overcoming recent bumps in their marriage.

Royal expert Julia Melchior interviewed UK news Regarding the relationship between Mary and Frederick, she quoted the speech Mary gave to the king on his 50th birthday.

“In 2018, Mary delivered a speech at Frederick’s 50th birthday dinner, moving him to tears in front of a host of official guests and television cameras broadcasting the evening live.”

Melchior quoted Mary’s speech in which she said “we grew closer by giving each other space,” noting that this was one of the successes of their marriage.

“Mary ended her speech with a song, ‘This is the space my heart longs for,’ and for the King and Queen of Denmark this was not just a formal appointment but a meeting of their closest friends.”

The king and queen made the comments after overcoming the scandal over Frederic’s extramarital affair that emerged in late 2023 and raised concerns about their marriage.

However, the pair looked very much in love during their appearances since ascending to the Danish throne this year.

On May 14, 2004, Frederik and Mary tied the knot in Copenhagen Cathedral. The couple has four children.
