The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has temporarily attached four immovable properties worth Rs 22.47 lakh belonging to Shashi Prakash and Jai Kishore Chaudhary (both executive engineers) to prevent the MGNREGA scam in Jharkhand.

According to the Department of Education, this is the fourth temporary attachment order issued in this case.

As of now, total properties worth Rs 106.86 crore (including this interim order) have been attached/attached in this case.

The investigation agency launched a probe based on 16 FIRs registered by the Jharkhand police, related to corruption of Rs 18 crore in MGNREGA work in Khunti district of Jharkhand.

Earlier, the ED conducted multiple searches under the provisions of PMLA on May 6, 2022, at the premises associated with these engineers and at the premises associated with IAS Pooja Singhal (then Khunti District Council) during which Rs 19.58 cr was recovered Huge amounts of cash. “Also, three persons namely Ram Binod Prasad Sinha, Pooja Singhal and CA Suman Kumar have been arrested in this case and three charges have been filed against Sinha, Singhal, Abhishek Jha, Jai Kishore Chaudhary, RK Jain (deceased), Shashi Complainant Prakash and CA Kumar are being tried before the Ranchi Special Court (PMLA), where the trial is ongoing,” it added.
