Former India cricketer Parthiv Patel has praised Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi and said the youngster has “Better batting” against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). The Kolkata-based team clinched the title with a score of 106 runs against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. In this match, Raghuvansh scored 54 points from 27 balls with a strike rate of 200. He hit five quarterbacks and three over the top. Speaking to JioCinema, Patel said the 18-year-old played an “excellent” shot against the Delhi-based outfit.
The former cricketer praised the way KKR batsmen faced fast bowlers like Anrich Nortje and said Raghuvansh batted with “confidence”.
“He bats the ball very well. The shots we have seen from young players like him are outstanding. When you play on a stage like the IPL for the first time and face a bowler like Anrich Nortje, his average The speed is 140-145 kmph and your first ball is a four hook shot which is really exciting. The second ball also goes for four. One thing I saw from his batting is Confidence. He is 18 and must be thinking this is some kind of dream,” Patel told JioCinema.
To sum up the match, KKR’s target of 273 runs was too much for DC and they succumbed to the pressure and ended up losing by 106 runs.
The pace duo of Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora took two wickets each to reduce DC to 33/4 in the powerplay.
These early hits undermine DC’s approach to chasing huge totals, with each delivery becoming more challenging.
Ultimately, the required pace proved to be too much, and they ended up on a 106-game losing streak.
