Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) convincingly defeated last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans to win their third Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis gave the team a partnership of 92 runs for the first wicket, after which, while chasing the target of 148 runs, RCB faced a dramatic collapse in the middle order and the score reached 117/6 from 92/0. Went. It was Virat who kept the team in the fight while Dinesh Karthik and Swapnil Singh provided the finishing touches. But, if Virat had not been saved from being run out on the first ball of his innings, perhaps chasing the target would not have been possible.

While being at the crease, Virat also got a big scare due to which he almost got run out. It was Gujarat Titans star David Miller who made a brilliant stop and fired the ball towards the keeper’s end. When the ball passed near the stumps, Kohli lost his bat and was not even in the frame.

If the throw had hit the stumps, Virat could have been out on the very first ball of his innings. His wife Anushka Sharma, who was in the stands for the match, was captured by the shutterbugs while reacting to the incident.

Although RCB won the match by a good margin with plenty of overs to spare, captain Faf du Plessis admitted that he was nervous after the team lost a lot of wickets in the middle.

“We have been really good in the last few games with both bat and ball. We have also been incredible in the fielding. The wicket was a little different, a little more bounce. Wanted to make sure we win,” Du Plessis said before the match. “Take information from the pitch and give it to the bowlers,” he said in a later presentation. Yes, there was a catch dropped, but it was the effort we were looking for and he was there the whole time.”

“All the games we have played here have been high scoring, anything around 180-190 would have been a par score. It was important that when we went out to bat we did not look at the scoreboard and that’s the way we play. Was a little nervous to try and play probably not the best of us. Yes, we wanted to go out there and get a quick total to boost the NRR, but probably when we were down by 4 runs. “We had to calm down a little.” Added.
