Princess Beatrice appears in public for the first time since the announcement of her former lover’s death.

Pictured looking sad in Dubai shortly after news of Paolo Liuzzo’s death broke, the Princess of York attended an event aimed at promoting collaboration between UK and UAE entrepreneurs.

Despite the recent tragedy, the 35-year-old exuded regal poise in a blue satin dress. Earlier reports had revealed that Paolo Liuzzo was found dead in a Miami hotel room in February, suspected to be an overdose.

In photos posted on Instagram by the Fikar Institute, which organized the event with Opus (for which Beatrice is a board member), the royal spoke at the event.

This week it emerged that the princess’s former boyfriend was found dead in his hotel room in Miami in February.

Miami Police Department Officer Michael Vega said police responded to the CitizenM Miami Worldcenter hotel room at 3:22 p.m. on February 7.

The cause of death has not been officially released, but Officer Vega said: “It has been investigated as a death from overdose. The investigation is open and ongoing.”

Princess Beatrice began dating Liuzzo in 2005 when she was 17 and he was 24, but the couple split in 2006.

A friend of Liuzzo told The Sun: “Paolo was not doing well on a personal level.

“He started out using a lot of pharmaceutical drugs at first, but later started using cocaine and harder drugs. It was a very fast lifestyle and we were all afraid it would eventually catch up with him.”
