Paul Stirling to lead Ireland in T20 World Cup cricket news

Veteran opening batsman Paul Stirling was on Wednesday named captain of Ireland’s 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States. Apart from Sterling, they have experienced faces Andrew Balbirnie and George Dockrell in their squad as Ireland begin their campaign against India in a Group A match in New York on June 5. Pakistan, Canada and host America are the three other teams in the group. Ireland’s batting lineup includes Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Ross Adair and Curtis Campher.

Left-arm fast bowlers Josh Little and Mark Adair will lead the pace attack, with Graham Hume, Camper, Barry McCarthy and Craig Young also options.

This will be Ireland’s eighth consecutive appearance in the competition, having qualified by finishing second in the regional finals of the Europe Qualifiers behind Scotland.
