President Draupadi Murmu begins 3-day North-East visit

President Draupadi Murmu arrived here on Monday on a three-day visit to the North-Eastern region, where she will participate in several programs. Murmu landed at Guwahati’s famous Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in a special Indian Air Force flight and was warmly welcomed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and several officials.

“It is an honor to welcome Her Excellency the President Smt. Draupadi Murmu ji at Guwahati airport today. The President is on a three-day visit to the region and will grace the golden jubilee celebrations of the Karbi Youth Festival,” Sarma said in a post on Twitter. Murmu had gone to Tura in an Indian Air Force helicopter to participate in several programs. In Meghalaya.

The President will inaugurate the Meghalaya Games at the PA Sangma Stadium in Tura during the day. This is his first visit to the hill state after becoming the President. On Tuesday, she will address members of self-help groups at Tura’s Balzac Airport and lay the virtual foundation stone of the new Integrated Administration Complex.

Murmu will also address a gathering at Mawphlang and virtually inaugurate the upgraded Rongjeng Mangsang Adokgre Road and Mairang Ranigodown Ajra Road as well as lay the foundation stone of Shillong Peak Ropeway and tourist accommodation at Kongthong, Mawlingot and Kudengrim villages. In the evening, the President will attend a civil felicitation ceremony organized in her honor by the Government of Meghalaya at Raj Bhawan, Shillong.

Murmu will attend the golden jubilee celebrations of Karbi Youth Festival at Taralangso in Diphu, Assam on Wednesday.
