India Under-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand has made a cryptic post after being overlooked for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Canada in the United States. The player who led India to the 2012 U-19 World Cup title has shifted his base to the United States in 2021 – a move he seems to be motivated by the lack of cricketing opportunities in India. Chand was due to qualify for the United States national cricket team this month, however, his snub for the upcoming T20I series in Canada has dampened his hopes of representing the United States at the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The United States’ T20I series against Canada will begin on April 7 and the final game will be played on April 13. After this, the US team will play a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, followed by the T20 World Cup.

It’s up to us to make the decision within ourselves now Time to change and stand firm, Chand wrote on X after the United States announced Canada’s 15-man squad for the T20Is.

Despite scoring 1,500 runs in 45 Major League Cricket (MLC) matches, Chand was left out of the United States team. He is the second run-scoring leader in the game’s history.
Meanwhile, Monank Patel will lead Team USA against Canada, with the first game taking place on April 7 in Houston, Texas.
Former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson is also set to return to international cricket after six years.
The 33-year-old played 13 Tests, 49 ODIs and 31 T20Is for New Zealand between 2012 and 2018, and at one point held the record for the fastest ODI hundred.
