Please come and take me – these five words gave Sukesh, father of missing 12-year-old Parinav from Bengaluru, the most relief he could in four days.

Vandana Menon, a media professional who was in the city on official work, found Parinav at Hyderabad’s Nampally Metro station around 6:45 am on Wednesday, four days after he went missing from his coaching class in Bengaluru’s Whitefield. He was trying to buy a ticket for LB Nagar.

“When I saw my son Parinav I had tears in my eyes. He told me not to worry and requested me to come and pick him up,” Sukesh told News18. “I have yet to ask him how he traveled and survived like this, but we want to bring our child back home first. He is safe at a relative’s place in Hyderabad,” said the father, who was on his way to the airport while speaking to News18.

When asked how he was found, the parents said Menon, a resident of Prestige Shantiniketan (PSN) community in Bengaluru, saw him and called him on video call. She asked him if the child was Parinav, and Sukesh replied yes.

“He said, “Please come and take me.” I couldn’t ask or say anything because I was crying. I wanted to catch him and bring him home. I asked him to hand me over to our relative in Hyderabad until we reached there .I won’t ask him any questions until he’s ready to speak,” the father said.

The parents are still puzzled about how the child traveled to Hyderabad using different modes of transport and said that all will be discussed at the appropriate time. “I am happy that my son is safe. I will give him all the freedom he wants. He can take whatever decision he wants. If he wants a break, we will support him. We just want to let him know that we are there for him and love him,” Parinav’s mother Nivedita told News18 in an exclusive interview.

good Samaritan

News18 also spoke to good Samaritan Vandana Menon, who identified Parinav at the metro station and alerted his parents.

She was going for a meeting when her eyes fell on Parinav. “I had to fight back tears because I was so happy he got it. When I asked him his name, he told me Parinav. That was my first confirmation. Then I asked a passenger to call her father’s number because I kept her engaged and made her feel safe. He confidently said he was going to his grandparents’ house,” Menon described the meeting.

“The child’s face is imprinted in the minds of all of us as we are constantly receiving updates from our housing complex community groups and checking his condition. So I made a video call to his father, and once he spoke, I handed him over to the metro superintendent, who took the responsibility of handing over the child to the relatives who had come to collect him,” she said.

Expressing gratitude, the family said that people took Parinav’s disappearance personally and hundreds of volunteers along with the police helped in the search.

“I want to thank each of them individually. I don’t know how to do this, but I thank everyone very much.

massive search operation

A massive operation was launched to find Parinav, who went missing on Sunday.

Dressed in a yellow T-shirt, dark blue pants and carrying a school bag with ‘Allen’ written on it, Parinav was seen using the public toilet behind the BMTC bus stop on Sunday evening. Later, he tried to sell his Parker pen, which is expensive, to a person for Rs 50 because he had no money. He was trying to make a living by selling his goods.

Whitefield police had formed three teams and maintained 24×7 surveillance to trace him with the help of CCTV cameras across the city. His photo was actively circulated in social media groups.

Nivedita also released a video appeal in which she asked her child to return home and not worry about anything that might have troubled him.
