According to ARY News, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will hold by-elections for vacant national and provincial assembly seats on April 21.
The Electoral Commission has announced a timetable for by-elections for vacant parliamentary seats across the country.
The electoral authorities will elect six seats in the National Assembly, two seats in the Khyber Party and Balochistan Assembly, and 12 vacant seats in the Punjab Assembly. According to the Election Commission, candidates can submit nomination documents between March 16 and 18, and a preliminary list of candidates will be announced on March 18.
Nomination documents will be reviewed on March 21.
It is worth noting that the PPP has chosen Asifa Bhutto Zardari as its candidate to contest the National Assembly seat vacated by Asif Ali Zardari’s election as President of Pakistan, ARY News reported.
Six vacant Senate seats in Islamabad, Sindh and Balochistan will be filled through by-elections on Thursday, March 14.
According to ARY News, the Election Commission said that voting will be held from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Thursday in the Upper House of Parliament and the Sindh and Balochistan Legislatures in Karachi and Quetta.
One general seat is vacant in the federal capital, two seats are vacant in Sindh and three seats are vacant in Balochistan due to the resignation of senators after being elected to the National Assembly and the Sindh and Balochistan parliaments respectively.
