After Punjab Kings (PBKS) were eliminated from IPL 2024 following a 60-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), assistant coach Brad Haddin admitted that “dropped catches cost his team the match.” Punjab had a tough day on the field on Thursday night, with three catches dropped in the first five overs, two of which came from Virat Kohli at 0 and 10, and one from Rajat Patidar when he was batting at 0. While Kohli scored 92 runs. Patidar scored 55 runs in the match.

After opting to bowl first, Harshal Patel’s form with the ball continued as he scalped three big wickets and debutant Vidyath Kawerappa also managed to take two wickets as RCB posted a mammoth total of 241/7, including Virat Kohli. Became on top by scoring 92 runs out of 47.

“100 per cent we lost the match because of dropped catches. If we look at the game, we dropped two guys for ducks and both scored big runs. That’s where the game was lost. There wasn’t much of a difference,” Haddin said during the match. “We lost because of the catches we dropped because of the batting and bowling of both the teams,” he said at the presentation ceremony later.

After the loss, PBKS focused on the positives of the season and are hoping to end the tournament on a good note with two matches still left.

“It’s disappointing. But motivating the boys shouldn’t be a tough task. This is one of the premier competitions in the world. It’s a great opportunity to showcase your skills. Look at Shashank Singh and what he has done in the tournament. “Have to look at the two games as an opportunity and take what happened personally and find a way to turn the result around and finish the season on a good note.”

Talking about Kagiso Rabada’s absence in the playing eleven, Haddin revealed that the Proteas pacer was unwell. Haddin said, “Kagiso Rabada was unwell today. Hence, he was not selected for the team.”

Stand-in captain Sam Curran also spoke at the post-match presentation ceremony and said his team would focus on the positives of the season and continue to work hard.

“There were a lot of positive signs throughout the season, but unfortunately, not enough to get the win. We knew we had the best team for the rest of the tournament and we’re feeling gutted for the team. We’ve got to keep our heads up.” will be.” Keep learning, and keep getting better. The ups and downs have been tough, but we have to keep learning and keep working hard,” he signed off.
