OnePlus is looking to continue its early-year momentum with multiple launches expected next month. The company announced the OnePlus 12 series for India this month, and in February we may see the brand enter the wearables category once again. The OnePlus Watch 2 could be part of the company’s Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024) lineup in Barcelona next month.

This may also be the first OnePlus watch to use the WearOS platform, which suggests that the first-generation OS will no longer be continued. The move to WearOS allows OnePlus to focus on the hardware and make the right push to make it an attractive option for buyers.

A tipster’s description of this launch is interesting as MWC is a platform where we mostly see phone launches, so a smartwatch announcement will definitely bring its own interest.

The first OnePlus Watch showed its weaknesses due to the software, which was no match to other wearable platforms available in the market. But with the second generation OnePlus Watch expected to run on WearOS, people will be expecting not only more features but also a seamless way to track their health readings.

The new version of WearOS is jointly developed by Google and Samsung, which started with the Galaxy Watch 4 series a few years ago. Both the tech giants have come together to counter Apple’s dominance in the wearable segment with the Watch. More brands coming to WearOS gives Google more scope to compete with the platform, plus, buyers have more options to choose from in the Android arena as well. If the OnePlus Watch 2 arrives at MWC 2024 next month, it’s likely that the brand will make the product available in the following weeks.
