Zomato gets RBI nod to operate as online payment aggregator

Online food delivery firm Zomato on Thursday said the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has authorized its subsidiary Zomato Payments Pvt Ltd (ZPPL) to operate as an online payment aggregator.

The company had on August 4, 2021 disclosed about the incorporation of a wholly owned subsidiary ZPPL to conduct business as a payment aggregator and issuer of prepaid payment instruments.

“We wish to inform that ZPPL has been granted a Certificate of Authorization from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as an ‘Online Payment Aggregator’ in India with effect from January 24, 2024. guidelines issued by RBI,” Zomato said in a regulatory filing.
