Official records show Prince Harry evading UK residency: report

Changes in residence status can be seen from documents issued by the Companies House.

New Delhi:

Prince Harry has officially given up his residency in the UK and declared the United States as his new home, according to recent documents submitted to Travalyst, a sustainable tourism organization he founded in 2019. The Duke of Sussex, 39, spoke publicly for the first time since his sister-in-law Kate Middleton revealed her cancer diagnosis.

The change in residency status can be seen in documents released by Companies House, with Harry’s “new country/state of residence” now listed as the United States, replacing the previous UK, according to the Daily Mail, which reviewed the document.

The latest incident comes as the U.S. government faces growing pressure to reveal Harry’s visa records, following comments from the U.S. ambassador in London that Harry would not be deported under President Joe Biden’s administration. Advocacy groups, including the Heritage Foundation, have been pressing for more transparency on the matter.

Questions have also arisen over Harry’s qualifications to serve as counselor of state, a position designated to select members of the royal family who can represent the monarch in specific situations. Concerns have arisen over whether he meets the criteria, given that his new residency status requires him to maintain British citizenship.

Separately, a court ruling on Monday upheld a ruling that Prince Harry cannot contest a reduction in personal security personnel during his visit to the UK. The decision comes after he launched a legal challenge after the UK government informed him in 2020 that the public funding protections he would receive while in the UK would be reduced.
