These are the best airports in the world. Singapore Changi Airport was torn down...

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are determined based on customer satisfaction surveys.

In recent years, the race for the title of “world’s best airport” has been a battle between two powers, with Doha’s Hamad International Airport and Singapore’s Changi Airport in the lead.

This year, the title changed, with 12-time champion Singapore being knocked off the top spot by its Middle Eastern rivals at the 2024 Skytrax World Airport Awards.

Seoul’s Incheon Airport performed strongly in Asia, taking third place, and was also named the most family-friendly airport in 2024, while Tokyo’s Haneda and Narita airports ranked fourth and fifth respectively.

After shaking off the aftereffects of Covid-19 and increasing passenger numbers, Hong Kong Airport saw a significant improvement, rising 22 spots to 11th.

U.S. airports once again missed the top spot, with the highest-ranked Seattle-Tacoma Airport falling 6 spots to 24th.

Europe continues to perform strongly, with Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Munich, Zurich and Istanbul all remaining in the top ten.

Among other actions:

  • New York’s JFK dropped five spots to 93rd; LaGuardia rose to 33rd from 57
  • Melbourne remains Australia’s number one airport, holding steady at 19th
  • London Heathrow jumps one place to 21st, while Gatwick rises seven places to 48th
  • Okinawa, Japan, made the biggest jump, rising from 199th to 91st.

Badr Al Meer, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, said: “As HIA celebrates its landmark 10th anniversary this year, we are honored that passengers have voted us the best airport in the world for the third time. “
