Noida wine shop salesman killed after refusing to drink after midnight: police

A wine shop salesman in Greater Noida was allegedly attacked and shot dead by three unidentified youths who asked him for drinks but were refused at around 2 am on Sunday, police said.

They said the incident took place at an authorized hotel in New Haibatpur village in Bisrak police station area and the deceased has been identified as Hari Om, a native of Amroha district in western Uttar Pradesh.

“At around 2 am, three boys came to the shop which was closed by then. However, they went to the back side of the shop and started knocking on the door asking to sell them liquor. The back door opened and a Noida Central police officer Suniti, deputy director of the bureau, said: “This is a small residential area. The salesman refused their request, leading to a fight between them. “

“One of the boys was armed with a country-made pistol and used it to fire a bullet. A bullet hit the salesman after which the three fled the scene. At that time, the salesman’s colleagues gathered there and rushed to Hari Om .He died while undergoing treatment at a hospital,” the DCP said.

Suniti said that after receiving the call, the police rushed to the scene for inspection and have launched an investigation into the case.

“CCTV footage and other surveillance cameras installed at and near the location are being analyzed to track the offenders. We have already got some useful information about the accused which is being further developed,” she said.

An FIR is being filed in the case and further legal proceedings, including post-mortem, are underway, she added.
