India’s position on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is that there is no solution on the battlefield and New Delhi wants to find a way to end the conflict, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said on Wednesday.

While interacting with the Indian diaspora in Kuala Lumpur, Jaishankar said “there are no winners in the conflict” while responding to a question on India’s stance on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

“We have taken the position from the beginning that you cannot find a solution to this conflict on the battlefield,” he said.

“At the end of the day, each party and many innocent bystanders or other countries are also damaged or affected. Either way, the conflict leads to this. So our position is to find a way to bring this conflict to a resolution .”End,” he said, adding that “quite honestly, in some circles, that was not a very popular position at the time.”

Regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas, Jaishankar said that what happened on October 7 was terrorism, referring to the multi-line attacks launched by Palestinian armed groups in southern Israel.

“On the other hand, you know, no one is going to tolerate the death of innocent civilians. States may at least be reasonable in their thinking and reactions, but you can’t react without taking into account international humanitarian law,” he said.

He added: “The fact is, whether the issue is right or wrong, the fundamental issue is the rights of Palestinians and the fact that they are being deprived of their homeland.”

“We are also a country that has had the opportunity to have a very frank and forthright conversation with the Russians on different aspects of the Ukraine issue. You know, others are using us to get their message across. And by the way, the same thing applies when it comes to the Gaza-Israel conflict The same goes for time,” he said.

In his speech, Jaishankar said that India and Malaysia are “diverse” in nature. He also talked about meeting with Malaysia’s top leadership, hoping to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

He also held a “productive” roundtable meeting with CEOs in Malaysia.

He said in a post on political development.”

The minister also met Malaysian Indian National Congress Chairman Vigneswaran and members of the group and thanked them for their continued support in nurturing closer India-Malaysia ties.

“Received YB Senator @KSaraswathy24, Vice President @KEADILAN and other senior members in Kuala Lumpur earlier today. Applauded their commitment to deepening India-Malaysia cooperation in various fields,” he said in another post.

Jaishankar is currently in Kuala Lumpur on the third and final leg of his three-country tour of Singapore, the Philippines and Malaysia.
