Navjot Singh Sidhu calls KL Rahul ‘spare tire’, explains winning the internet

Former India opener Navjot Singh Sidhu has heaped praises on the versatility of wicket-taker batsman KL Rahul. Sidhu praised Rahul’s ability to adapt to different roles and regarded him as the “spare tire” of the car. Since making his debut for India in 2014, Rahul has been batting, opening the innings and stepping up for the team in the wicketkeeping department. Sidhu added that there are not many players in the world who are as versatile and reliable as Rahul.

“KL Rahul deserves a lot of credit. You play him at No. 3 or No. 4, you play him as a wicketkeeper or an opener and he has adapted to many roles. Likewise, you will notice that behind a jeep is a spare wheel. In case of emergency or puncture, the spare tire can be placed on any wheel. Not everyone has this ability,” Sidhu said during a discussion on Star Sports.

Meanwhile, Rahul is currently leading LSG in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

In LSG’s match against Kings XI Punjab, Rahul came on as a substitute and Nicholas Pooran led the team.

However, in the final match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Rahul kept a wicket and resumed captaincy duties.

Looking back at the match, LSG posted a fine score of 181/5 after Quinton de Kock scored 81 runs off 56 deliveries.

In response, RCB struggled to forge a meaningful partnership, leading to their downfall and ultimately a 28-match losing streak for the home team.

LSG, who have two wins in three matches, will take on 2022 champions Gujarat Titans at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday.

LSG made the playoffs in each of the first two seasons of the IPL.
