Mumbai:

NASA’s mission to launch sounding rockets during the recent total solar eclipse was led by Aroh Barjatya, an Indian-born researcher who traveled across India before moving to the United States, his family said of urban learning.

NASA launched three sounding rockets on April 8 during a solar eclipse (visible from North America) to study the effects on Earth’s upper atmosphere when sunlight briefly dims in parts of the planet.

“The mission is led by Aroh Barjatya, a professor of engineering physics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, who directs the university’s Space and Atmospheric Instrumentation Experiment,” NASA said in a statement. room.”

The Atmospheric Perturbation Around the Eclipse Path (APEP) sounding rocket was launched from the agency’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia.

“My deepest gratitude goes to all the researchers at the partner institutions and the incredibly capable students at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and most importantly, to NASA’s Wallops Sounding Rocket Program Office and NASA Goddard Everyone at the Space Flight Center helped make this possible with six complex rocket missions in six months!!!” Aroh posted on LinkedIn following the announcement.

Son of Ashok Kumar Barjatya, a chemical engineer, and Rajeshwari, a housewife, Aroh went to school in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Pilani, Patalganga near Solapur and in Solapur Electronic Engineering course completed from Walchand Institute of Technology.

His sister Apurva Barjatya, herself a mechanical engineer, moved to the United States in 2001 and completed a master’s degree in electrical engineering at Utah State University. He later pursued a PhD in spacecraft instrumentation at the same university, she said.
