NASA astronaut Lola O’Hara, Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Nowitsky and Belarusian space participant Marina Vasilevskaya spent six months aboard the International Space Station After fruitful research, he has returned to Earth safely.
Their return journey began when they departed the space station aboard the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft at 11:54 pm Eastern Time on April 5. After a smooth descent, they landed with parachute assistance at 3:17 a.m. (12:17) on April 6. (17:00 pm Kazakhstan time), it landed in the southeast of the remote town of Jezkazgan in Kazakhstan.

Complete mission successfully
O’Hara launched her space adventure on September 15, 2023, with Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub. The latter two will continue their mission on the space station for another year. Meanwhile, Novitskiy and Vasilevskaya set off aboard Soyuz MS-25 on March 23, along with NASA astronaut Tracy C. Dyson, who plans to stay on board until the fall.
On her first spaceflight, O’Hara spent a total of 204 days in space. Nowitzki is an experienced astronaut who has flown four missions and has spent a total of 545 days in space. Vasilevskaya made her first space trip and spent 14 days in space.

Contributions to space exploration
O’Hara’s mission is to support NASA’s Artemis program, helping advance preparations for lunar exploration and laying the foundation for future crewed missions to Mars. Her efforts included approximately 3,264 orbits of the Earth, covering a distance of more than 86.5 million miles. She conducted various scientific experiments on the space station, focusing on areas such as heart health, cancer treatment and space manufacturing technology.
After a thorough medical examination upon landing, the crew will proceed to the recovery staging city of Karaganda, Kazakhstan. From there, O’Hara will board a NASA plane and fly to the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

With the departure of the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft carrying O’Hara, Nowitzki and Vasilevskaya, the 71st Expedition officially began on the space station. Expedition 71 consists of NASA astronauts Michael Barratt, Matthew Dominic, Tracy C.
