iPad Air 2024 series launched with Apple M2 chip; Check features, price and more

After nearly 2 years of neglect, Apple finally updated its iPad lineup with new devices including the new iPad Air at its Let Loose event on May 7. The iPhone maker called it the ‘biggest’ iPad announcement since the device’s debut. Unlike the MacBook, which was released through a simple press release, the iPad Air was introduced by the company in a live-stream video, giving a glimpse of its features, capabilities, and price.

iPad Air Features and Specifications

The new iPad Air is released in two screen sizes – 11-inch and 13-inch, both of which get familiar Apple features like Center Stage. The camera has now been moved to the landscape edge, along with new landscape stereo speakers with spatial audio. What is new is the new Apple Silicon M2 chip. The iPhone maker claims it is 50% faster than the M1 iPad Air.

It supports machine learning features like visual lookup and better image editing capabilities. Apple claims it works with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. Apart from this, it also supports the hover feature of Apple Pencil. Storage has also been increased. Apple has eliminated 64GB of storage and it now comes with 128GB of storage as standard. The ceiling has also been increased, with the new iPad Air now supporting up to 1TB of storage.

Although there is still no Face ID on the iPad Air, Touch ID is still supported. It also supports 5G connectivity.

iPad Air price and availability

Despite the increase in storage, the price of the iPad Air has remained the same. The price of the 11-inch iPad Air starts at $599, while the price of the 13-inch variant starts at $799. The 11-inch iPad Air price in India starts at Rs. Rs 59900 for the Wi-Fi model and Rs. Rs 74900 for Wi-Fi + Cellular model. The 13-inch iPad Air starts at Rs. Rs 79900 for the Wi-Fi model and Rs. Rs 94900 for Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

Both variants are available for pre-order today, with shipping promised for next week.
