Narayana Murthy's 5-month-old grandson receives Rs 4.2 crore from Infosys dividend

Ekagrah Rohan, grandson of Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, will receive dividend income of Rs 42 crore from the IT giant at just 5 months old.

Last month, Mr. Murthy gifted 1.5 million Infosys shares (0.04 per cent stake) to the young boy, worth over Rs 240 crore.

according to Exchange filing, Ekagrah owns 15,00,000 Infosys shares. The transaction was conducted “off-market,” documents show.

Ekagrah Rohan Murty was born in Bengaluru on November 10 last year, the third grandson of Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy, along with siblings Krishna and Anoushka. Ekagrah is the son of Rohan Murthy and Aparna Krishnan, and Krishna and Anoushka are the daughters of Akshata Murty and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Infosys announced a 30% rise in fourth-quarter profit to Rs 7,969 crore as compared to Rs 6,128 crore in the same period last year. Revenue also rose slightly to Rs 37,923 crore. In the fiscal year ending March 2024, net profit increased 8.9% to 26,233 billion rupees, and annual operating income increased 4.7% to 1,536.7 billion rupees. The Infosys board has recommended a final dividend of Rs 20 per share and a special dividend of Rs 8 per share for FY24. In addition, Infosys also plans to acquire a German technology company in an all-cash deal worth 450 million euros.

Infosys expects revenue to grow 1-3% in the next financial year. Research firm Motilal Oswal said Infosys’ revenue growth forecast for FY25 is lower than their expectations. But they believe Infosys can do better in the medium term.Another firm, Nuvama, reportedly believes that Infosys may start growing faster later in FY2025, but till then, their stock may not perform that well compared to companies like TCS business today.
