UP Village 21-year-old Instagram Reel died after trial gone wrong

The 21-year-old died while filming an Instagram video.

A young man in Uttar Pradesh’s attempt to create a video that went viral on Instagram ended up with fatal consequences. Shivam Kumar, 21, hung upside down from a flagpole on the roof of his school, a stunt recorded by his friends. He wanted to hang upside down from the pole, but the concrete pole could not bear the weight and collapsed, killing him.

The incident took place at a junior high school in Kelada village, Bandar, Janpad on Thursday night. Around 5 pm, Shivam picked up his father from the railway station and dropped him home. When he reached school, his friends Anu and Ankit were already waiting for him. The trio then climbed onto the roof of the school, completely unaware that this would be Shivam’s last stunt on Instagram. Soon after they started recording the scroll, the pole fell and Shivam was trapped beneath it. He died at the scene from his injuries.

His Instagram feed is filled with several similar stunts, where he can be seen hanging upside down from trees and ceilings.

Shivam’s father Vardani is struggling to cope with the sudden loss of his son, a laborer who worked in a water bag factory.

Ram Mohan Rai, in-charge of Matud police station, said the family had not lodged a formal complaint.
