Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday. Royals, led by Sanju Samson, will try to continue their winning streak in this year’s IPL. RR started their IPL 2024 season with a 20-match win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). They then defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 12 runs in their last match.

RR is ranked third after winning two games in a row.

On the other hand, five-time champions MI are yet to open their account in this year’s IPL under new captain Hardik Pandya.

MI lost to Gujarat Titans (GT) by 6 runs in their previous encounter and then lost to SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 31 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Flamboyant opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored just 29 runs in two games. Jaiswal will be hoping to get off to a hot start against MI on Monday.

England batsman Jos Buttler is expected to open for the Royals again. Butler hasn’t played up to his level so far and will work on improving his size.

Sanju Samson (Captain/Goalkeeper)

RR captain Sanju Samson hit the winning goal in the IPL 2024 opener. Sanju, who ranks third in batting, scored an unbeaten 82 runs off just 52 balls to take RR to 193/4 in 20 overs against LSG. His knock contained three fours and a six maximum. He will look to continue his shining form against MI.

Ryanparag

Riyan Parag was another good batsman for Royals against LSG. Parag, along with captain Samson, scored an impressive 93 for the third wicket. The dashing right-handed batsman smashed 43 runs off 29 balls, including one four and three sixes.

Himron Heitmeyer

West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer will retain his place in the Royals starting XI despite losing the first match. The 27-year-old scored 300 runs in 14 games last season with a strike rate of 152.28 and an average of 37.50.

Dhruv Urel

Dhruv Jurel impressed for Royals against LSG in Jaipur. Jurel batted at No. 6, knocking 20 runs off just 12 balls to push RR to a strong total. He will aim to continue his good form against a star-studded MI bowling line-up.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had a slightly better performance against Lucknow Supergiants but he did take the wicket of Marcus Stoinis. He has been losing runs this year, but his ability to steal at critical moments in games cannot be ignored.

Sandeep Sharma

Veteran right-arm pacer Sandeep Sharma bowled brilliantly in his debut match for RR. The Patiala-born cricketer took the huge wicket of LSG captain KL Rahul. He will hope to increase his score against MI.

Avish Khan

Indian player Avesh Khan provided economy for RR in the IPL 2024 opener. The 27-year-old right-arm fast bowler bowled some good deliveries. He aims to pick some crucial wickets in the upcoming matches.

Trent Bolt

New Zealand’s star pacer Trent Boult has been the bowling spearhead for RR since 2022. The left-arm fast bowler once again provided Royals with an early breakthrough by dismissing LSG’s Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkar in the opening two overs. He will try to improve his record against the five-time champion to once again prove his worth.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal has scored 188 IPL wickets in just 146 games. The right-arm leg-spinner has once again started the new season in good form, taking three wickets in his first two games.
