Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was once again on the verge of defeat as Rajasthan Royals sealed their progress to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs with an impressive 9-wicket win. Hardik, who has been in the headlines ever since he took over the reins of the franchise from Rohit Sharma, admitted that the team has not been good in any of the three departments of the game. As Mumbai Indians are losing important matches due to mistakes in the batting unit, bowling unit and fielding, Hardik admitted that now is the time to accept the flaws and work on them. “We got ourselves into trouble early on. The way Tilak and Nehal batted – it was brilliant. I don’t think we would have even got to 180 when we lost a few wickets early We couldn’t finish well and that’s why we had to keep it inside the stumps (while bowling), we gave too much width and I don’t think that was the case. “Overall, we didn’t put the right foot on the park and ultimately, they beat us,” Hardik said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

There remain some individuals in the game who have not performed well so far this season. But, Hardik does not believe in isolating the players and talking to them individually. The MI captain has confidence in the professionalism of the players and hopes that they will correct their own mistakes.

“After the game, it’s not the right time to go after the players, everyone is professional, they know their roles. What we can do is learn from this game and correct the mistakes we made and make sure Make sure we don’t do this.” This should not be done. Within the team, individually, we have to accept our flaws and maybe work on them,” he explained.

Although Mumbai has lost its 5th game in 8 matches, Hardik has confidence in the team selected. He refused to make major changes to the playing eleven as the franchise enters the do-or-die phase of the campaign.

“I don’t believe much in chip and chop, I like to support the players and the focus will always be on playing good cricket, sticking to our plans and making sure we don’t make basic mistakes. Cricket is simple, as long as We keep it simple, that’s cool,” he concluded.
