The Election Commission of India’s C-Vigil app has become an effective tool in the hands of people to report election irregularities. An official press release said more than 79,000 complaints had been received as of Friday since the 2024 election was announced.

According to ECI’s official press release, “More than 99% of complaints have been resolved, with nearly 89% resolved within 100 minutes. Speed ​​and transparency are the cornerstones of the C-Vigil application.”

“More than 58,500 complaints received (73% of the total) were about illegal advertising and banners. More than 1,400 complaints related to the distribution of money, gifts and alcohol. Nearly 3% of the complaints (2454 cases) related to defacement of property. ,” the press release reads.

According to the release, of the 535 complaints received regarding display of firearms and intimidation, 529 have been resolved.

“1,000 of the reported complaints related to campaign activity beyond the prohibited period, including the use of loudspeakers beyond permitted times,” the report said.

The C-VIGIL application marks a major leap forward in election monitoring and reducing campaign chaos.

It may be recalled that at a press conference announcing the 2024 general elections, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar urged citizens to remain vigilant and use the app to report violations of the model code of conduct and any distribution of information to voters form of reward.
