'Modi represents the master of digital information': Union Minister Anurag Thakur

Bangalore:

Union Minister Anurag Thakur said the Center has set a target of making India a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 and slammed the previous UPA government for corruption and fraud.

Addressing IT professionals here on Thursday, he said, “…IT stands for ‘India Tomorrow’, what is India’s goal tomorrow? The goal is to develop India into Viksit Bharat by 2047.” The Union Minister mocked the country “Can you imagine that ten years ago, our countrymen found it difficult to escape from the clutches of the corrupt Congress party and its alliance partners, where one scam after another was committed,” the Congress party said.

Talking about various scams during the UPA regime, he said because our memory is very poor, sometimes we forget, especially those who are between 18 and 22 years of age, when they were only 8 to 10 years old.

“They don’t know about the 2G scam or the CWG scam… they don’t know about the AgustaWestland, the coal scam and so on…” “It’s our responsibility to remind them that between 2009 and 2014, there were a lot of scams that happened in this country, By 2014, (the country’s) growth seemed to be stagnant, inflation was high and policy paralysis had hit the country hard and we were looking for an option,” he said.

Thakur said the country was looking for a way out and in the meantime, the BJP had come up with an alternative leader named Narendra Modi.

“Modi was a glimmer of hope in 2014. We promised to give you a clean government and I am happy that in the last 10 years we can proudly say that not a single penny of corruption charges has been leveled against Modi in our government .or his ministers,” he said.

Thakur welcomed the Narendra Modi-led government, whom he said represented Vikshit Bharat, the “master of digital information” and the architect of India’s development.

Emphasizing that Indians are the greatest resource the country has, he said, “We need to reskill them, upskill them. The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us anything we might have learned in the age of technology, you have to constantly reskill yourself. …artificial intelligence will play a very, very important role and our talent, the Indian IT (Information Technology) sector, will play a very, very important role in bringing billions of dollars and jobs to India .” Reacting to the notice issued to the party by the Congress IT department, he said, “Political parties do not have to pay income tax which has been exempted but have to file income tax returns. But look at the oldest political parties in the country… they have failed to file income tax returns surface.

“If you don’t file income tax return you will get a notice so why should Congress be treated above the law. That’s what the income tax department did, they gave them the notice but they didn’t reply and look they didn’t respond arrogance,” he said.
