Actress Melissa McCarthy has come to the defense of her friend Meghan Markle amid the ongoing backlash against the duchess, saying she is “incredibly threatening to some people.”

“It upsets me for every woman and every person that people like to attack for no reason,” she told Page Six at the Broadway opening of “Suffs” on Thursday night.
The 53-year-old star hit back at those unnecessarily targeting Prince Harry’s wife, saying, “A smart interesting woman who has her own life is, for some reason, incredibly threatening to some people.”
She added: “I always think, how inspiring! I’ve never been threatened by someone who is amazing. I just think how inspiring. It’s really about people spreading hate.”
“Gilmore Girls” star McCarthy appeared with Meghan Markle for a video celebrating Markle’s 40th birthday and the launch of a mentorship program called 40×40. The humorous video gradually tarnished Markle’s royal status.
