The Duchess of Sussex made a surprise visit to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on March 21, where she signed Polaroids for sick children as part of the Make March Matters campaign.

She recalled an incident last year when the Duchess of Cambridge had to turn down children’s requests for autographs while visiting the Chelsea Flower Show’s inaugural Children’s Picnic.

She continued: “I can’t think of a legitimate reason why signatures from working members of the royal family should be restricted in 2024.”

“The absurdity here is important because examples like this jeopardize all the modernizing and humanizing work Kate and William have been working on,” the royal writer continued.

The royal author added: “This signature rule is a stark reminder of how shabby, musty and obscure the palace still is.”
