Amid the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), India captain Rohit Sharma is expected to meet the BCCI selectors this weekend to discuss the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The ICC has set May 1 as the deadline for team submission for participating teams. As the deadline to select India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad approaches, many experts have shared their views on the same. Former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Ambati Rayudu has also selected his 15 probable players for the World Cup.
Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has been under the scanner for his performances in the current season of the IPL, is one of the notable players absent from Rayudu’s 15-member squad.
Hardik, who replaced Rohit Sharma as captain, is leading MI for the first time this season, but his captaincy and performances have been good to say the least.
While it has been reported that BCCI is unlikely to pick any new IPL performers, Rayudu has included LSG fast bowler Mayank Yadav and Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag in his predicted squad.
After a great start to his IPL career, Mayank has been backed by many to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup starting from June 2 in the US.
While there were no surprises in the batting department with Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar making the top four, Rayudu left Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Sanju Samson for the keeper’s role.
Instead he chose experienced Dinesh Karthik for wicketkeeping. Karthik is enjoying one of his finest seasons with the bat, despite his franchise RCB being at the bottom of the points table.
In the bowling department, Rayudu went with a combination of three spinners and four fast bowlers.
