A masked gunman who opened fire on a car on a busy north London street during a “gang dispute” has been convicted.

Ricardo Anderson, 21, was found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life and attempted grievous bodily harm.

He shot at a car along Tottenham Park Lane on May 27 last year.

CCTV captured the moment the blue Volkswagen Golf drove down the road before stopping in the middle of the street.

Anderson can be seen pulling a gun from his waistband and firing wildly at the car.

The Metropolitan Police said a passenger in the car, who was also armed with a gun, tried to fight back, but the weapon jammed.

Members of the public fled and took shelter in nearby shops or cars after the attack, which took place around 8 p.m.

The target vehicle sped away and Anderson fled the scene on foot.

During the police investigation, officers discovered that a group of people had gathered in the area earlier to film a music video, with one member wearing a distinctive blue North Face tracksuit, black sneakers and a balaclava.

CCTV footage allowed police to identify the man as Anderson and confirm he continued to fire at the vehicle.

Anderson was arrested on May 31 last year and subsequently charged on June 1.

He was convicted at the Central Criminal Court on April 10 and is now scheduled to be sentenced on May 22.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Rein John said: “The incident took place on a busy street on a warm summer evening when people were outside and shops were open.

“Horrified onlookers, including children, sought shelter in the shop and scrambled for safety behind parked cars.

“Ricardo Anderson doesn’t care about them at all. With any luck, this could be a murder investigation.”

“Following our investigation we have determined this incident was part of an ongoing dispute between rival gangs in the area.”

The vehicle was later discovered stolen and despite an extensive investigation, the occupants remained unidentified.
