A man is fighting for his life in front of horrified passengers after he was stabbed on a moving train in London.

The passenger was attacked in broad daylight on the train just after leaving Bromley Shortlands train station on Wednesday afternoon.

Unconfirmed video shows someone wearing dark clothing and a hood appearing to be holding a large blade, and a passenger can be heard yelling “f****** stop it now” before calling police .

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward. No arrests have been made so far.

A BTP spokesman said: “A man was seriously injured at Beckenham Junction today and detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward.”

“At around 3.56pm today (March 27) we received reports of a fight between two men entering a train at Shortland station. One man suffered serious injuries consistent with being stabbed. .

“Police, Metropolitan Police and colleagues from the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made to date.”

“British Transport Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference number 397 of 27 March 2024. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 .”
